Mr. Rajiv Swarup

Former President, Shiv Nadar University, Sr. Corporate Vice President HCL

Rajiv Swarup is the Founding President, Shiv Nadar University. He was heading all non-academic functions at the University including Admissions, CDC, Finance, HR, IT, Administration, Marketing and Campus Infrastructure. His role includes establishing core University processes and policies, automation of student and employee records, developing the campus infrastructure to meet the teaching and research needs of faculty, staff and resident students and create a healthy and bubbling campus environment for the residents.

With nearly four decades of rich & varied corporate experience behind him in incubating, managing and developing both the strategic & operational aspects of large businesses, Rajiv superannuated from HCL America in July 2013 as Senior Corporate Vice President and Chief Customer Officer – Strategic Accounts. He had a long and fruitful career with HCL Technologies spanning over 13 years, working with Software Services, Engineering Services and BPO divisions at senior positions. At HCL Technologies India he managed an annual business of $250 Million and 6000 people, he nurtured and grew several accounts. He has set up and incubated several Development Centers around the globe, including Cary and Rochester in USA, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Poland and China. He was last based in the USA to manage the then largest Global Engineering Outsourcing engagement for HCL.

Prior to HCL, Rajiv worked with DCM Data Products, Modi Olivetti and different entities of the Modi Group where his career profile has been very diverse and has included R&D, Manufacturing, Procurement, Vendor Development, Project Management, Business Development, creating joint ventures and setting up several green field projects. Modi Olivetti was a green field project where his responsibilities included managing the construction of a modern manufacturing plant, hiring and training people and then run the plant. As Director Industrial he was responsible for the order fulfillment from procurement, to manufacturing and delivery. His last assignment before joining HCL was as a CEO of a newly formed JV company in the Modi group.

Rajiv is B. Tech (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, he is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
